- Donburi
- 2 portions of cooked Japanese short-grain rice
- 70g Green Cabbage (shredded)
- 2 tbsp finely chopped green onion
- 2 tbsp vegan mayonnaise
- 2 lemon wedges to garnish
- 2 tsp red pickled ginger – optional
- 2 tsp chili threads – optional
- Karaage
- 1 package of Nasoya Super Firm Tofu
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sake
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 5 tbsp potato starch
- Cooking oil
Preparation
- Cut tofu into bite size pieces
- In Tupperware, add soy sauce, sake, black pepper, garlic paste and ginger paste. Mix together with tofu pieces and refrigerate for 30 minutes
- Sprinkle potato starch onto a plate and take out the marinated tofu
- Coat each piece of tofu in the potato starch
- Fry each piece of tofu for about 5mins on each side
- Remove tofu and place on a wire rack or absorbent kitchen towels to get off rid of excess oil
- Place cooked rice into two bowls, add cabbage and the karaage tofu pieces. Drizzle vegan mayo on top and top with chopped green onion, lemon wedges, pickled ginger, and chili threads
